Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner! Don't you find that this year's Halloween is more eventful in Singapore? With USS Halloween Horror Night to Zouk Doll House, which event are you going for???

Of course, RAC Singapore West celebrated this eventful time at Singapore Flyer on 21 October. With only two guys out of the 12 people who turned up, it was indeed a ear-piercing moment;)

Do you have this thought before - that it is ridiculous that people are willing to spend their money just to scare themselves? However, I realized that it is not so. This is a time where you can bond with your friends and release out any stress that you have. I really think that the audience really matter.

Do you know that Halloween originated from an ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain (pronounced as "sah-win"). It is actually a festival to celebrate the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture and it is the time for the ancient pagans to take stock of their supplies and prepare for the winter. The ancient Gaels believed that on 31 October, the boundaries between the living and the dead overlapped and the deceased would come back to life and cause havoc such as sickness or damaged crops.

Therefore, bonfires are usually set up during this festival as it is believed that fires will attract insects to the area which will in turn attract the bats. In addition, wearing masks and costumes during this period is to mimic the evil spirits or appease them.

Kekeke~

So how are you going to celebrate Halloween this year?

IS Informational Sharing Session with Lithuania Rotaractors

Today (13th October), we are glad to host Rotaractors/Rotarians from Lithuania. Our sister club, RAC NUS also joined us:) There was a sharing session at SMU whereby the Lithuania Rotarian introduced about their club and their country. Did you know that Lithuania consisted of 10 counties which are further subdivided into 60 municipalities? Indeed the culture and the activities that the Lithuania Rotaractors have are very different. Somehow, it seemed more fun especially their installation ceremony. (They used another word for installation ceremony but my poor memory fails me..)

After the sharing session, we bought them around the City Hall area - Esplanade, Merlion Park and not to forget, Singapore Flyer. We had our dinner at the Singapore Food Trail @ Singapore Flyer.

Hope that they had a fun time during the remaining time in Singapore^^
